Fleadh '63 Mullingar Celebrations
Come to Mullingar in the centre of Ireland, the birthplace of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. Join us for a musical celebration weekend commemorating the 1963 Fleadh Ceoil na hÉireann - All Ireland competition for Irish music, singing and dancing. Experience Irish cultural heritage with an astounding array of the traditional arts.
Céad Míle Fáilte -You are welcome to visit Áras an Mhuilinn, the Midlands Regional Comhaltas Centre and view the Local Exhibition of Fleadh '63 memorabilia throughout the weekend.
On Friday 12th April, become absorbed in an audio visual presentation 'Fleadhanna Ceoil through the Years'. Round off the night with some foot tapping as you enjoy live Traditonal Music at an Informal Seisiún in the Bar!
On Saturday 14th give kids a chance to speak their 'cúpla focail' at our Irish language workshop. There's also another chance to watch the audiovisual presentation "Fleadhanna Ceoil through the Years". Be transported back in time at our Afternoon Forum of Memories of Fleadh '63 with our local historian and invited guests. Sit back and listen to the very cream of local talent as Traditional Musicians and Singers wow you with their talents at the Gathering Concert of Westmeath All Ireland Fleadh Winners presented by Westmeath Comhaltas County Board. Enjoy 'ceol agus craic' at our Gathering Séisiún with visiting musicians.
On Sunday 14th April Savour the sounds of live traditional music at an Informal Morning Seisiún. Join in the fun at our Afternoon Gathering Céili and afterwards enjoy "Dráma Dhá Theangach" a bi lingual play to round off an exciting weekend of Irish Culture.
