About this Gathering

Messiah Gathering April 13th 2013

Abbey Tours in partnership with the Earley Musicke Ensemble & Royal Irish Academy of Music are delighted to present a performance of George Frederic Handel's Messiah.

April 13th 2013 represents the 271st anniversary of the first performance of the Messiah in Dublin and will be performed by local and visiting choristers and soloists of the Royal Irish Academy of Music and ably conducted by the very talented Desmond Earley.

Date            13 April 2013

Time           Doors Open at 7.30 p.m.

Tickets       Euro 12 per ticket

Euro 8 concession (Senior Citizens / Students)

Tickets are available at www.entertainment.ie or on the door.

Our partnership has allowed choirs from home and abroad an opportunity to enjoy the challenge of participation in the performance of a work integral to the history of Dublin as it is to the history of high-art music.  2013 marks the beginning of what we hope will be an annual festival of music making in Dublin.

Not only is this event a celebration of Handel’s work but we will also be making a donation to the very worthy Focus Ireland (http://www.focusireland.ie/).  Focus Ireland is a registered charity that works to prevent people becoming, remaining or returning to homelessness. The organisation was founded in 1985 by Sr. Stanislaus Kennedy, in response to the needs of a group of homeless women. Focus Ireland’s vision is that ‘everyone has a right to a place they can call home’ and the organisation works to make this vision a reality for thousands of people every year.
