If you are looking to research (and possibly meet) your long lost Irish relatives from the Ryan Clan of Idrone East & West (Carlow/Kilkenny) this is the event for you. The aim is to bring together Ryans from near or far with the aim of discovering lost roots and building new friendships. Background: The O'Riain (Ryan) sept descend from Lathaoir Mor, 2nd Century King of Leinster; the chief of this sept was lord of Ui Drone, one of the seven baronies of Co. Carlow, Ireland. Following the Norman Invasion in 1172 the Kavanaghs, descendants of the MacMurrough clan, held this territory then known as Hy Cabanagh or Ui Cavenagh. The McMurrough Kavanaghs still live in Borris house and many of the descendants of the O'Riains (the Ryans) are still living nearby.....maybe we'll take back Borris again (if only for one night...)...
